Kirk's Open Pit Bar-B-Que was established in 1962 by Kerfoot D. Lewis, Sr, fondly known as Kirk. Kirk's, a family owned business was operated by Kirk, his wife Norma and their five children (Kirk, Kim, Kathy, Krista and Kira). He successfully operated stores in both Detroit and Inkster, Michigan. Kirk's was one of the most well known barbecue restaurants in the area serving our famous Bar-B-Que sauce, ribs, chicken and shrimp. In July of 2008, Krista and Steven Conyers and Kathy Bulger re-opened their father's restaurant, Kirk's Bar-B-Que, in Birmingham, Michigan on Woodward Avenue.
